From the March 1904 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Persons whom Christian Science has blessed use every legitimate means to convey this healing truth to others. Many of us, however, have failed to realize, until now, what a splendid pulpit we have for this very purpose in the Journal and Sentinel. These publications, reaching tens of thousands of loving Christian Scientists at regular intervals, are eagerly read by hundreds of suffering nonbelievers. Thus our Journals are doing an incalculable amount of good in spreading the light and redeeming the sick, sinful, and sorrowing children of men. These two publications seem to be the vehicle, in many instances, whereby the blind are brought to see the beauty and intense practicality of our text-book.

I have been a student of Christian Science for three years. In that time I have been able to see the effects of its application and practice. I have seen the pale, wasted cheek glow with the radiance of health; I have seen the dyspeptic, disgruntled sufferer quit his digestive tablets and drugs and find satisfaction in a well-cooked dinner; I have seen the victim of the tobacco and whiskey habits freed from his enthralling chains; I have seen a man, who, "lying when the truth would serve his purpose better," has now become honest; I have seen victims of malignant disease cleansed by this beneficent agency; I have seen unhappiness, bitterness, and discord in families melt away at the harmonious touch of Love; I have seen a father reconciled to his wayward son and this son brought into the path of peace and rectitude; I have seen hopelessly discouraged business men gather new strength and confidence and bring order out of chaos in commercial affairs; I have seen prosperity settle dove-like upon men whose future seemed to presage naught but a succession of blasted hopes. All this have I seen— and more—wrought by the power of Truth as revealed to us in the writings of our Leader, Rev. Mary Baker G. Eddy.

Christian Science has convinced me not only of the beauty of holiness, but also of the practicality of a religion by means of which holiness or "wholeness" may be fully attained. "This diapason of heaven: 'Good is my God, and my God is Good. Love is my God, and my God is Love'" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 206), realized in every consciousness, is making earth a fit habitation, where all the sons of God may shout for joy.
