I would like to relate my experience, and express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and my family. A little over seven years ago I became interested in this truth through a school-teacher, who was not a Christian Scientist but who told me of many wonderful things which had been done by it. I thought I would like to try the treatment but knew not where to find a practitioner. I had not been well since my last child was born. At that time I had a relapse, and the doctor called the condition blood poison caused from laceration, which kept me in bed for weeks. This left me with great fear that some worse form of disease might manifest itself unless I had an operation. I also suffered from asthma, which was so bad that at times my breathing could be heard all over the house. This held me under the constant fear of taking cold. I was also so near-sighted that without my glasses I could not distinguish any objects a little distance away.
I decided to go to a Christian Scientist, and soon found a lady whose words and look were like heaven to me. After talking a while she gave me "No and Yes," by Mrs. Eddy, to read, and also treated me. I read a few lines, and I will never forget the realization of God's presence that came to me. I recalled the pictures of trees, flowers, ripening grain, rippling streams, and could realize that His presence was everywhere. I thought to myself that nothing could turn me back. Then came my trials, but at every trial I grew stronger, and one by one my ailments disappeared. In my family of three children medicine is a thing of the past. Christian Science has helped us in every line of life, — in sickness, in business, with my children; but the greatest is the spiritual uplifting which only God, through Christian Science, can give. Words can never express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me.
