I am thankful that I can testify to the healing power of Christian Science, for I know it is the truth that makes us free and teaches us how to find the kingdom of heaven. For several years I suffered from stomach trouble and severe headaches, also extreme nervousness. Almost everything I ate caused distress, notwithstanding my diet was limited to the simplest food. Besides having a physician, I devoted some time and study to "so-called mental science," and also took its treatment, but received no permanent benefit. I finally became discouraged at the failure to secure release from these troubles, and like many others, I turned as a last resort to Christian Science, though with little or no faith, as I knew nothing of its teachings. It seemed strange that the loving and patient practitioner, who found me in bed and, as I thought, very ill, should tell me I could eat whatever I liked. I was very hungry, and did eat what was prepared for the other members of the family, and suffered no ill effect. Then I realized that there was truth in Christian Science, for I was free from the awful fear that had seemed to master me so long, and a sense of joy and gratitude came to me that I had never known before. This occurred over four years ago, and since that first treatment I have eaten without fear anything I desired, nor have I ever suffered from, so doing.
A little later, my husband, realizing that I had been so wonderfully healed, and that without material aid, was induced to seek relief through the same channel. He was healed when on the verge of a nervous collapse. After several weeks' treatment he was relieved of this trouble, as well as of several accompanying ailments. During this time we were glad to take advantage of every spare moment to read and study our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," that we might learn more of this wonderful truth which had come to us in an hour of greatest need. My mother, now eighty-seven years of age. and my two sons have embraced Christian Science, and have been greatly helped— physically and spiritually uplifted.
Our family is now one of health and happiness, and harmony has taken the place of discord. Instead of being a sick woman and a burden. I can now, if necessary, take entire care of my household and still find time to' help some unhappy, distressed friend to find the way to health and comfort, through the ministration of this glorious truth. We are deeply grateful to the noble woman who, through the power of divine Love, has made it possible for humanity to realize an ever-present God.
