In love and gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, I will try to express a little of what Christian Science has done for my family. In November, 1904, my little son, who was then nearly two years old, had a very serious illness. He had such a high fever that it seemed impossible for him to live. He was in a stupor, not noticing any one, when the practitioner came. She stayed with him about an hour, and when she left he was laughing and talking and had very little fever. In a few hours the cause of the trouble came away naturally. He slept quietly from one till six o'clock, then got up, was dressed, and played as usual all day. Another great proof that the truth as taught by Mrs. Eddy can be relied on in the most trying circumstances was given us about a month ago, when a playmate let a garden hoe fall on this child's head, cutting him severely. I was so frightened when I saw the blood pouring from the top of his head that I telephoned to a practitioner for treatment. We pressed the cut together and secured it with court plaster. It healed very quickly.
In the four years since I have been interested in Christian Science we have had a great deal to meet, because I did not work in Science as I should, and we cannot reap if we do not sow; but Christian Science has always been an ever-present help, for it has taught me that God is not in some far-off realm called heaven, but that heaven is a state of consciousness and God is ever-abiding Love; and that as we express Love we are in heaven — harmony. Words alone are too empty to express the love and gratitude which we owe to Mrs. Eddy for her unceasing labors for the uplifting of mankind.
