It is now a little over one year since I turned to Christian Science and was healed instantly of a very bad case of stomach trouble. I had not been able to eat any cooked food for more than a year and a half, but lived on milk, fruit, and an uncooked bread made by a physician in New York. All the time, however, I went from bad to worse, suffered severely, and nothing would give relief but hypodermic injections. At last I had to give up my business, and our family physician told me to prepare for an operation, also advising me to call an attorney and settle my affairs; which I did.
About this time Christian Science was very earnestly presented to me. Let me here say that I had been a church member nearly all of my life, and had been strongly prejudiced against Christian Science; could not bear even to hear its name, nor that of Mrs. Eddy as its Founder, but I had gone so far that I thought I could see the end if I continued as I was going. I was then persuaded to try Christian Science; at least, to go and talk to a practitioner, and keep my own counsel, which I decided to do. I rejoice all the day, and thank God, that my stubborn will yielded to reason and to Truth. I claim instantaneous healing, although I did take three treatments, as I had arranged to go East to get away from business and everything. Divine Love gave bountifully, even more than we asked. I had been a moderate smoker all my life, but ere I knew it the desire for tobacco left me. I had been troubled quite a little with catarrh, but that also disappeared; in fact, I was made whole, born again. This healing was in November, 1906. I returned to my business in April, 1907; took charge again, and what a tower of strength God has been to me since! "They that wait upon the Lord ... shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." This has been proven literally true to me during the past year.
I am learning Christian Science slowly, but every new glimpse of the truth is sweet, and hourly I give thanks to our Father-Mother God and "His Christ" for my healing. I am also most grateful to dear Mrs. Eddy for so faithfully pointing out the way. My heart has been changed, and now I have only love for all mankind. May our God who is Love bless this to the help of some weary pilgrim.
