I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. What brought me into the actual study of it was the healing of my mother, who had for weeks been very ill with a complication of diseases. Two of the main troubles were diagnosed as an abscess pressing against the stomach, so that she could not retain any food, and a serious kidney disorder. The physician we had called was considered one of the best in Denver, and had been our family doctor for years. He brought a surgeon in consultation, and they both advised an operation as the only hope, but gave us very little encouragement, if any, that she would live through it. We then turned to Christian Science, and she was healed in a week, and was up and about her household duties, perfectly well. We were both healed of headaches of the worst kind.
In my own home, the truth taught in Science and Health has been our only medicine. For five years we have depended on it for all our needs, and when my baby was born many asserted material laws were set aside. Not only for the physical healing am I deeply grateful, but also for the mental healing. Although I was always considered a sickly child, under a doctor's care much of the time, I am now strong; still, I believe I am more grateful for the spiritual uplift received in Christian Science. Science and Health is certainly a "Key to the Scriptures," for it has made the Bible a new book to me. Although nearly all my life I have been a church-member, still the Bible was never so clear to me as now, and Christianity has become a practical religion to me. I know that if I am faithful to the teachings of Christian Science, "the way will grow brighter 'unto the perfect day'" (Science and Health, p. 496).— Denver, Col.
