I wish to return thanks for a few of the blessings I have received from God through the understanding and application of Christian Science. In March, 1911, I was stricken with acute lung trouble in a severe form. I called for help from a practitioner, but my husband and friends who did not understand Christian Science thought I was committing suicide. Finally my husband sent for the physician whom we had employed before I became interested in Christian Science, and when he came he examined me and said that my left lung was in a serious condition; but I continued to improve under Science treatment, and when my husband again summoned the physician, he said my lung was completely healed. I know that Truth and Love alone could have delivered me in the hour of such trial, and I have been perfectly well ever since.
In October, 1911, a large bee crawled up my sleeve and stung me on my arm near the elbow. The pain was sharp, but I hastened into the house and began to read Science and Health, the bee still clinging to my arm. I read for quite a while, all the time realizing the truth, and the pain ceased. After a few minutes the bee crawled down into my hand, and I went out into the porch, when it slowly raised its wings and flew away. I had no ill effects from this, and my experience under Christian Science was a marked contrast to that of my neighbors who resorted to medicine for the cure of their stings.
One of the great blessings that I have received is peace, happiness, rest. From childhood I was of a very melancholy disposition, never knowing what it was to be entirely free from some dread fear. I wish that all my loved ones could understand how I feel regarding Christian Science. I am indeed very grateful to Mrs. Eddy for bringing us the "true light," which shines so that any one who will may come to Truth and receive blessings a hundredfold.—Washington, D. C.
