It is with deep gratitude for Christian Science that I submit my testimony of healing. Not long since, I noticed what seemed to be a swelling on the top of my left foot. A day later the foot was very much enlarged, the third day even more so, and it seemed to be turning black in places. The pain caused me to limp quite a bit, but I managed to get around by remodeling an old shoe, and never gave up to error by staying away from my work, although advised to do so by my associates. I treated myself in the evenings, but the fourth day was Sunday, and I got down to work in earnest, trying to realize that as God's child I must be harmonious, and that matter has no intelligence and "cannot be inflamed" (Science and Health, p. 414). I was deeply grateful the next morning to find that nearly all of the swelling had disappeared, and that the disease was proved to be what it really was, nothing. The next day, Tuesday, I was wearing my regular shoe again, and the thought which I held uppermost was that the word of Truth is indeed "quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword."
I have had many other healings through Christian Science, and I will mention two which I consider the most important. I came into Christian Science about three years ago, through the healing of a very bad form of stomach trouble. A year later I was healed of a fever, which kept me away from my work only five weeks. For all of these healings I am truly grateful, but I am much more so for the spiritual uplift I have derived through the study of Christian Science. As a young man I started out in life with many false beliefs of pleasure, but Christian Science came to me as an angel in the night, and it has brought me abiding happiness.
About six months ago I left my home in Kansas City, Mo., and came West. What seemed to be financial problems have been worked out by an understanding of the same power that heals sickness and sin, namely, God, good;and though far away from former friends and home, I am content and happy, for divine Love is here and everywhere.—Van Nuys, Cal.
