With a heart full of gratitude I wish to tell of a demonstration over what seemed to be impending death. On one occasion my husband was taken with severe pain in the bowels and in less than an hour said he was dying. I asked if I should call for a Christian Science practitioner, but he thought it would be of no use, as a rupture that had given him much trouble for years was now aggravated so that there was a stoppage of the bowels, and he wanted a doctor. I telephoned for one, who came quickly and worked faithfully for four days to remove the difficulty, but was unable to do so. On the fifth day an osteopathic doctor was called and worked over him almost continuously for some hours. Upon leaving he said that he could not help him.
I then asked my husband if he wanted me to treat him in Science, for I knew that God was able to do the work. This met with a willing response, and he soon felt the power of Truth and went to sleep, but awoke an hour later in pain. I went to work again, and in fifteen minutes he was asleep; but the fear was not yet overcome, although the bowels had moved freely and he was resting fairly well. That night two more attacks were met, but the fear was so great that a Christian Scientist was called at two in the morning. As a result my husband was able to eat a good breakfast, and the stoppage was soon overcome.
We feel very grateful for this proof of divine power and protection, and give this testimony so that others may know that there is help when man is governed by God. We had many proofs of God's power before this, but never when death seemed so near, and we have learned a lesson from this seeming trial. My husband is over "three score years and ten," yet he has enjoyed perfect health since his healing, and has not missed one day's work during the last sixteen months on account of sickness.— Pierre, S.
