My experience in Christian Science dates from June, 1914, and I could not begin to tell of the wonderful change that has come into my life and my home. Christian Science found me in the depths and came to me like a ray of sunshine, dispelling all doubts and fears. From the first I was conscious of a spiritual uplift out of the mire of material beliefs into the glorious sunshine of divine Love, and have learned that to advance spiritually one must be studious and must "pray without ceasing," be grateful for small things, and "in everything give thanks." I have had many beautiful proofs of the healing power of Truth.
My first demonstration gave me great encouragement to press on. About twelve o'clock one night our little boy awakened with a severe attack of croup, and the sense of protection which came to me will never be forgotten, although I knew very little of Christian Science, having been studying it only a few weeks. I had learned, however, that God governs all, and for four hours realized the truth contained in the "scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468); then we both fell asleep, and in the morning there was not a symptom of the ailment. This experience showed me that divine Love is ever present, and that "perfect love casteth out fear."
Some time afterward my husband was out of work, and I became discouraged, wondering what we were going to do. While in this state of mind I was reading the Bible and my eye caught these words: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." I immediately felt uplifted, and could not express the beautiful thoughts that flooded my consciousness. The realization came to me that God, divine Love, is our supply, and is not limited. My husband got work in a few days and has been working ever since.
