Testimonies of Healing

I have long wanted to testify to...

From the June 1919 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I have long wanted to testify to what Christian Science has done for me, and it is a privilege and a pleasure to do so. For years, in fact as long as I could remember, I had been obliged to take medicine for inaction of the bowels. Being compelled to take such a quantity every night gave me a feeling of nausea all the time, and day after day I would eat scarcely anything. I had lived in this way ever since young girlhood, and was growing worse all the time. When quite young I had been afflicted with a fever, and the doctors said the digestive organs were in such a condition that there was no help for me. Then one night I found I could not walk. A physician was called, and remained until nearly morning doing all he could for me. I did not leave my bed until I was healed through Christian Science four months later. Much of the time I was not allowed to see anyone. I had several different doctors come once and twice each day; I was not allowed to sleep more than half an hour without being wakened, as the opinion was I would never wake if I slept longer.

That was my condition when I turned to Christian Science. A loving practitioner came and explained that God did not want me to suffer; that it was not His law which was keeping me there, and if I trusted Him I could get up and would be all right. As a result I was up and dressed the next day. Is it any wonder that I love Christian Science and the understanding that I have of God as Love which took me up from that bed where I had lain for four long months, and put me on my feet so that I could do for my family?

This is only one of the many blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. I have yet much to learn, but thank God for the progress that is made each day, and am very grateful to all the kind friends who helped me. Also I wish to thank The Christian Science Publishing Society for their untiring work. I am grateful for each one of the periodicals, the Lesson-Sermons being bread for each day's use and the testimonies very helpful. In closing I wish to say that I have the great joy of membership in The Mother Church, and divine Love meets my every need. I have no further use for obnoxious drugs. While words cannot describe my gratefulness at being liberated from a life of bondage, that is second to finding God and knowing His ever presence with us.—
