Foremost and with increasingly insistent demand on the part of the inquirer, is the question: How does Christian Science heal? To those who have devoted themselves unavailingly to material means and remedies for healing, the basis of Christian Science may appear intangible. Possibly its claims and teachings are foreign to all past experience, yet the assurance of its healing power, its offer of release from disease and sin, persuade many to ask how they can know this Science which destroys disease and evil.
The effort to find health and happiness through matter is disappointing at every turn; for reliance upon materiality has ever failed to give mortal man a dependable answer to any of his questions. Wearily have mankind awaited the time when the Scriptural healings, which multitudes had grown to look upon as beautiful but uncertain stories or even myths, would be explained. That this explanation has been given in Christian Science is proved by multiplied and unsurpassed healings, these coming in an ever increasing ratio; therefore the question of the earnest seeker for Truth as to how he may best avail himself of its healing power is timely.
Christian Science answers this question, and satisfies those who conscientiously seek the good which this teaching bestows; for its assurance makes plain that there is no condition, however deep-seated or serious it may appear, which cannot be reached, and remedied, and healed. Creed, dogma, and medicine desert the sufferer seeking help on that mortal brink to which he has been forced by false belief. Then, when the heart cries out sincerely, Christian Science gives a satisfying explanation of the divine remedy, a proof to the highest conviction of man that God, good, would not and does not afflict.
