I wish to express my deep gratitude for the many wonderful blessings I have received through Christian Science. Nearly two years ago a friend recommended Christian Science to me as a means of physical healing. At that time I was suffering from what is called a badly distended stomach. For years I had been trying all kinds of material remedies, but could get no permanent relief, and finally on the advice of the doctor who was attending me I had an X-ray examination. The result was that an operation was found necessary if I wished to be well again. That verdict brought me to the condition where "man's extremity is God's opportunity," so I took my friend's advice and consulted a Christian Science practitioner. After she had lovingly and patiently explained to me the basic teachings of Christian Science and had given me one week's treatment, the erroneous condition entirely disappeared.
That beautiful healing led me to take up the study of Christian Science right away, and I have since experienced numerous demonstrations of the wonderful power of divine Love. One especially I would like to tell of. I was riding a bicycle along the road one evening when suddenly a large motor car came up behind and ran me down. As soon as I realized what had happened, I declared God's presence and affirmed that all was well. To mortal sense the injuries consisted of several deep cuts on the head and body, besides severe bruises, but I felt quite calm and mentally was perfectly clear throughout. The driver of the car insisted on taking me to the nearest doctor, who, after he had attended to the injuries, said there was every chance of blood poisoning and lockjaw. With the help of a practitioner, however, the wound healed remarkably soon, and ten days later I was able to attend our testimony meeting and give thanks to God for my great deliverance. I have also been healed of the tobacco habit after twenty years' use of the weed.
I am truly grateful to God and also to Mrs. Eddy for the many blessings I have received through Christian Science.—Wellington, New Zealand.
