Nearly eleven years ago I turned to Christian Science for healing and received all that I asked for and more. The physical healing came, but the understanding that God is good and the giver of all good meant more to me. My small son had suffered always supposedly from malnutrition, as no food could be found that seemed to nourish him. In despair I prayed that I might be led to give him the right food, and surely this prayer was answered. Through confidence in what a dear friend had told me of Christian Science, I went to a practitioner and asked for help. I bought a copy of Science and Health and read every word therein, and the light came in Mrs. Eddy's statement, "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter" (Science and Health, p. 468). My baby was healed and received his proper nourishment, although no change in his material feeding had been made. I learned through Christian Science the truth of Jesus' statement that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
I did not ask for healing for myself, but during the reading of Science and Health I realized that I was absolutely healed of a condition which had been called incurable. From that time on I have received wonderful proofs of the efficacy of Christian Science, and with each healing rejoice that it is another of the signs which shall follow them that believe.
This same baby chewed and swallowed some glass beads, mistaking them for candy. Through the loving help of a practitioner, and her confident statement that glass had no power to destroy life, for God is Life, my fear was destroyed. All alarming symptoms manifested in great pain and hemorrhage, vanished in a few hours, and the child was restored whole.
