I have delayed sending this testimony,...

From the January 1921 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I have delayed sending this testimony, finding it difficult to express adequately in words the wonderful work accomplished by Christian Science. For the past twelve years or more I have relied upon it entirely for healing and have proved it to be the truth. I desire at this time to tell of two experiences which came to my little daughter, in which Christian Science treatment was most efficacious,—one six years ago, and the other within the past three years. The first healing was of scarlet fever in a severe form. Finding that fear seemed to predominate I telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner for help. Never shall I forget the sweet words of assurance which came in response to my request. Every phase of the disease presented itself, but each one was quickly conquered, and the child soon regained normal health. I had learned in some degree during this experience the nothingness of the belief of life in matter, but still another experience more firmly established the understanding that Life is God. This same little girl had always been very free from fear, but suddenly seemed held by fear so great that she could not endure to be alone for a moment. It was again manifested during an illness which soon followed. There were periods of vomiting, with other attendant difficulties. The healing was slow, but for a year and a half buoyancy and health have prevailed, and there is much rejoicing in our home.

Christian Science teaches us how to be grateful, because we learn through its study what to be grateful for: that God is All-in-all; that we are heirs of Him who is infinite Love; that there was a woman, Mary Baker Eddy, who was pure enough to receive the revelation of Christian Science. "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God." On page 295 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, we may learn how to assist in the ceaseless regenerative work for mankind. There our Leader says, "The mortal mind through which Truth appears most vividly is that one which has lost much materiality—much error—in order to become a better transparency for Truth."—
