Words fail me when I think of what I and mine owe to Christian Science. When this wonderful truth was first presented to me, I was a mental and physical wreck, suffering from nicotine poisoning said to be due to excessive smoking. After reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, for two days, the desire to smoke entirely left me and I became a new creature indeed. I have had proof after proof of the healing power of Christian Science, for when we do our work faithfully and understanding, it never fails to help us in every hour of need. My husband has also been wonderfully healed of many ailments since he began reading Science and Health.
I am also more grateful to Mrs. Eddy than I can express, for having given to us The Christian Science Journal, Sentinel, and Monitor. I was privileged at one time to help with the distribution of these healing periodicals and they always seemed to be veritable "channels for the streams of love" (Hymn 86, Christian Science Hymnal), in many cases breaking down the barriers of prejudice pride, distrust, and the like, and so opening the way for the study of Science and Health and Mrs. Eddy's other inspired writings. The healings resulting from the reading of these periodicals, missionaries in every sense of the word, are too numerous to mention and often make me think of Mrs. Eddy's wisdom and tender forethought in giving them to a suffering world. We certainly owe boundless gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, who was pure enough to interpret God's commands aright and bring to this age the same truth which was taught and demonstrated by Christ Jesus the Way-shower.—Chicago, Illinois.
