Testimonies of Healing

I began to read the Christian Science textbook,...

From the January 1923 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I began to read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, after several years of bad health, and the depressing circumstances succeeding five operations of a serious nature. For one period of ten months my diet had consisted of patent food and jelly; and for another period of twenty months a stomach pump was in daily use. During this time I returned to Europe for further medical help; but the doctors there, as well as here, professed themselves unable to cope with the continual pain and vomiting, unless I adopted entirely the life of an invalid. In a letter from my then regular physician to a fellow-doctor, these words occurred: "Mrs. Wilmot is a complete invalid; her life is not worth living."

To-day my heart is full of gratitude for the healing which I have experienced by means of Christian Science treatment, and the enormous help derived from the Christian Science textbook. I eat a normal amount of food without concern as to its supposed digestibility. Not only have I regained a great sense of health, but I am also able to do my own housekeeping and to accomplish a large amount of extra work. More than all, the truth as revealed to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has begun to dawn in my consciousness, and I am gaining a glimpse of what it means to "let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus."—

In confirming my wife's testimony I should also like to express my deep gratitude for the very many blessings which Christian Science has brought into our lives. A little over four years ago there seemed nothing left to live for; but this black outlook was soon replaced by one of encouragement and hope for the future. Step by step, it has been our great privilege to demonstrate the power of Truth, as revealed to us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy; and greater happiness and peace now fill our lives.—
