Testimonies of Healing

With sincere gratitude to God for...

From the January 1923 issue of The Christian Science Journal

With sincere gratitude to God for giving us a knowledge of the Christ, Truth, through Christian Science, I am sending my testimony, in the hope that it may prove helpful to others.

The statement that "man's extremity is God's opportunity," proved to be a correct statement in my case. After many years of suffering caused by hay fever, in the fall of the year 1915 I accepted a position requiring studious application, which I had always been cautioned by physicians to avoid as much as possible during the period 1 was troubled with hay fever. The day referred to was very warm, and had been a very trying one, so that in the afternoon I felt I would have to give up my work. Previous to this time, physicians had told me the only relief I could get would be in the mountains; but this was seemingly impossible. An office associate, who had been greatly benefited by her study of Christian Science, said she would help me that night, if I would read from '"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, which she assured me would bring the much desired relief. This I did; and for the first time I was able to understand something of just what Mrs. Eddy wished to convey. Upon retiring, I slept quietly and peacefully, and morning found me without the usual distressing condition. It was a glorious sensation to have such wonderful relief.

This was the start of my awakening, and it was closely followed by the healing of a stomach disorder which I had never remembered being free from, and which physicians had told me was incurable. I experienced protection that same winter from the fear of tonsillitis, from which I had previously suffered to a great extent each winter, also from burns, colds, and many other discordant conditions. These were all so quickly and quietly met that the earnest desire came to find out how it had been accomplished, which resulted in a continued study of Mrs. Eddy's writings.
