I feel that God has been so good to me, through the understanding of Christian Science, that I should like to give my testimony as to its healing power. I was for a number of years a sufferer from nervous indigestion. This seemed to yield somewhat to medical treatment, but a worse condition manifested itself called ulceration of the stomach and bowels. I suffered great pain and discomfort, and was very much discouraged and downhearted. A copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was given to me, but I could not understand or accept its teachings.
My old religion was not satisfactory, however, and I seemed to be in a sea of doubt with nothing to anchor to. I met a dear friend who was a Christian Science practitioner, and in the course of the conversation I asked if she thought my case could be healed. The answer was given, "I know that you can be healed." "Well, I will try it anyway," I said; but I did not have much faith, although I was willing to give Science a trial. Treatment was lovingly started at once. The first week I did not seem to gain much; but the second week I was greatly improved, and in a short time I was healed. I have had no return of the trouble; and the healing took place over seven years ago.
The experience opened my eyes as to what Christian Science could do; also, it gave me a greater insight into what God is. I am indeed grateful for many healings through the truth, which enables me to see that God does not visit affliction on His children, but heals and protects them if they will only turn to Him.
