Some years ago my wife was healed, through the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner, of a long standing ailment called acute indigestion, and of other inharmonious physical conditions. She is now happily enjoying the comforts of the ever-presence of God's love. Naturally Christian Science literature came into our home. I laid it aside, thinking and saying I had no need of it.
Upon returning home from business one day in a seemingly broken down condition, filled with fear and pain, I noticed a new Christian Science Sentinel had been received. As I picked it up, my eyes fell upon the line on the cover, "What I say unto you I say unto all—Watch." In deep silence, I began to recall some of our dear Master's sayings, invitations, commands, and promises. In my willingness to search the Scriptures and to be obedient, many questions confronted me. I became ashamed in acknowledging how little I had done for God, and how much He was doing for me and mine. Words cannot be found to describe this wonderful experience. During these moments of stillness, filled with gratitude, peace, comfort, and love, I was healed through the power of Christian Science and divine Love. Mrs. Eddy truly says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 342), "It speaks to the dumb the words of Truth, and they answer with rejoicing."
Some years later I was again overcome with something painful and disturbing. Mortal mind was talking very loud trying to find a long name for such a condition, instead of the little word "error." I called for Science and Health to help me solve this problem. In humility and calm trust, in silent prayer alone with God, reaching out for a clearer understanding that with God nothing is impossible, I began to read on page 468 the "scientific statement of being." Again the omnipotent power of Christian Science and divine Love healed me immediately; and, with praise to God I was able to continue my work with renewed strength.
