It is a number of years since a former neighbor and friend called at my home and asked me to investigate Christian Science, saying she was almost convinced that it was true. Although I knew very little about Christian Science at that time, I was glad to have an opportunity to learn more. A copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was lent to me, and an earnest study, in which I have never since faltered, was begun. In about three months, I laid aside glasses that I had worn constantly for eighteen years; and for the first time since I could remember I used my eyes freely without pain. Three or four years previous to this time I began having attacks of inflammation and intense pain in my right eye. These were recurring oftener, and were of longer duration. The oculist said there was no help for the trouble, and that I should have to lose the sight of that eye. I never had one of these attacks after I began to read Science and Health. Within a year or so other physical troubles that had kept me a semi-invalid for years disappeared. Worry, anxiety, and pride, from which I suffered more than from my bodily ills, were also destroyed.
I am indeed grateful for this mental and physical freedom, and most grateful of all for a measure of understanding of the divine Principle and perfect rules that govern harmony.—Manhattan, Kans.
