THE BUGLE CALL

From the January 1924 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Rejoice, O heavens; rejoice, O earth!
Break forth in songs of gladness!
In ev'ry heart may hope have birth
To banish care and sadness.
Lo! o'er the vale of sense and gloom
The sun of Truth is breaking!
For Christ is here, and Christ is dear,
In Truth's all-glorious waking.

Rejoice, O weary one, distressed
By carking cares, confounding!
Rejoice, O heart by sin oppressed!
Truth's bugle call is sounding.
The clouds of sense obscure no more
The waking, clearer vision;
Triumphant floods Truth's sunlight o'er
The "valley of decision."

Truth's clarion call is echoing down
The ages' long procession;
And silv'ry clear its paeans drown
The note of sin's obsession.
Rejoice! Rejoice! the world around,
With joyful acclamation;
Let Truth omnipotent be found
In ev'ry clime and nation!
