[Original testimony in German]

It is my sincere desire to express...

From the August 1927 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is my sincere desire to express my gratitude for the rich blessings which my family and I have experienced through the wonderful teaching of Christian Science. In 1911 dear relatives told us of this beautiful teaching, this new-old religion. Words are inadequate to express the joy which I experienced on reading the writings which were lent to me. It was the religion for which we had always been seeking, namely, a religion of deeds. It has roused us to a spiritual understanding of the teachings of the Bible, and proved to us that Truth is always victorious.

I should like to tell of a case which doctors had pronounced incurable. Eight years ago our daughter, at that time twenty years of age, was in a desperate condition. Her suffering began with acute anæmia and nervousness, to which was added later a large ulcer on her knee. She also suffered from weakness of the heart, which prevented her going out, and consequently she was robbed of many of the pleasures of life.

A Christian Science practitioner worked untiringly for our daughter, who in spite of her sickness was always able to be up; and she enjoyed a good appetite. Then she was taken ill with pleurisy. As she was engaged in an office before her illness, according to the law we were obliged to consult a physician; and besides the complaints already mentioned he diagnosed very large ulcers on the intestines, which, he said, were incurable. He said he thought an operation or a rather long stay in a sanitarium might bring temporary relief. The physician was quite surprised that the patient, in spite of his grave diagnosis, was not afraid. Packs prescribed by him were not applied, nor was medicine taken. Water which had accumulated in her body and the ulcers disappeared through the faithful work of the practitioner.
