THE evidence before the five material senses does not testify to eternal Life, but to the reality of matter, which is temporal. The carnal mind cannot cognize true Life: it testifies to mortality, sin, sickness, disease, and death. The Scripture declares, "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God." Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 429): "Mortal mind affirms that mind is subordinate to the body, that the body is dying, that it must be buried and decomposed into dust; but mortal mind's affirmation is not true. Mortals waken from the dream of death with bodies unseen by those who think that they bury the body." From these words the unreality of the claims of false material sense may be clearly seen.
Not human belief but Christian Science can reveal the eternal truths of God, Life, and His universe; for this Science is the forever manifesto of God, divine Principle, which fills all space and governs and preserves all. In divine Science we learn of the infinitude of immortal Life and the unreality of all that is unlike God, good. A thorough understanding and demonstration of the teachings of Christian Science destroy' false human beliefs and regenerate mankind, causing men to awaken to the understanding of Life eternal. Therefore, a knowledge of God and of His universe is commensurate with the realization and enjoyment of endless Life. With this agree the words of Christ Jesus, "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."
There is correlative affinity between Life and man, who is God's eternal expression. It is therefore not in the least scientific to believe that man dies. The material personality is but a false sense of man; and the so-called death of the body is the result of the false belief of life in matter. The real man is spiritual, and forever reflects Life, as a ray of light the sun. Nothing can annihilate the ray of light so long as the sun exists; likewise, nothing can destroy man so long as God, Life, is. It is only ignorance of God, good, that seems to produce sin, sickness, disease, and death; and a correct perception of the truth of Being does away with this ignorance.
