My baby had an irritation of the skin which medical skill failed to help. It appeared when he was four months old; and when he was nine months old I took up the study of Christian Science, hoping he would benefit thereby. After eight months of Christian Science study, having gained faith, I wrote to a practitioner for treatment. She treated him for months, and I studied daily; but still the condition did not seem to improve. After six months' treatment, in a letter from the practitioner she said that perhaps I had not learned my lesson in patience yet; and she wrote, "See 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' page 22, lines 13 to 22, by Mary Baker Eddy." I knew that impatience was a fault of mine, so I then resolved to be different, and proceeded to make a special effort along this line. In a few days my little boy's skin was entirely healed. He is nearly eight years old now, and his skin has remained perfect.
This experience convinced me that it is necessary for us to work out our own salvation; and if a healing seems slow, it is very likely because we are breaking some moral law and our thinking needs to be corrected. The Bible says, "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy."
I have had many other beautiful healings. How thankful I am for Christian Science 1 To think that God, who is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient, made all and made it "very good"! There can be no evil, because God has all power, and God is Love, good. This understanding has unlimited possibilities.
