Testimonies of Healing

I am only one of the unnumbered...

From the December 1930 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am only one of the unnumbered thousands to glorify our Father Mother, God, to give honor and praise to our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and love and reverence to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for the understanding of Christian Science, the Science which teaches us God's relation to man and the whole universe.

I have been able to prove many times how false is the belief in a power apart from God, and to rise above insomnia, depression, extreme sensitiveness, constant coughs and colds, financial reverses and, with the loving help of a practitioner, even the shadow of death itself. This beautiful healing occurred a number of years ago. I had one hemorrhage after another until I seemed to be passing on. Members of the family not interested in Christian Science felt that nothing was being done for me and, when the healing did not seem to come quickly, fear set in. A physician was called, and he said that if there was no change within three days an operation would be necessary. The end of the third day found me much worse, and my daughters felt I could never survive an operation as there seemed so little life left. As for myself, I was so weakened I did not know or care what they did. They, however, took their stand for Christian Science and relied on God alone, repeating Mrs. Eddy's words on page 231 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "What God cannot do, man need not attempt," and also on page 376, that "Life is Spirit," and that "there is more life and immortality in one good motive and act, than in all the blood which ever flowed through mortal veins and simulated a corporeal sense of life." The singing of our dear Leader's hymns brought much peace and encouragement to me. The practitioner was brought to the house and took up the work. From that day the healing began, and it was not long before it was complete. This is only one of the many healings I have experienced as well as witnessed.

I am more grateful than words can express for the privilege of being a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church; for class instruction; for being able to help others; for the patient, loving, and earnest practitioner; and for all our authorized literature, which is an endless source of joy.—
