A feeling of deep gratitude to God prompts me to testify to the many blessings I have received in Christian Science. For the past sixteen years Christian Science has been my only physician. For several years previous to that time I had been a great sufferer from chronic stomach trouble and colitis. The leading specialists in New York and Washington treated me; but in spite of constant dosing with drugs, rigid diet, massage, and electrical treatments, they failed to cure me. I was in a hopeless state when I heard of Christian Science through a friend who had just experienced a wonderful healing. As I had sought help in almost every direction, I decided to try Christian Science, although I had not the least idea of what it meant.
I consulted a practitioner, and soon learned that, regardless of what the physical senses may seem to say, man is God's image and likeness, and therefore perfect here and now. This revelation was most inspiring. It was so comforting to find in it the blessed truth that God is Love. Although I revered the Bible, I never could understand it; but I started reading it again, and with the help of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I began to study, the pages of the Bible were illumined. Through the kindness and patience of the practitioner and the study of these two precious books I was soon healed of the colitis and stomach trouble, and they have never returned.
During all these years I have had numerous other healings, many of them through absent treatment and many of them almost instantaneous, and for this I am deeply grateful; but for the understanding that has come to me through working out problems of longer duration my joy and gratitude are beyond words.— New York, New York.
