I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, having always been quite well; but the character of a mother and her daughter whom I had in my business for a while interested me very much, and I thought, If Christian Science makes this kind of people, I want to know something about it. By taking every opportunity to ask questions about it of those who were interested, I soon learned to study by myself, and it was not long before my daughter and I joined a local church and also The Mother Church. As I learned more about its teachings, some minor ailments dropped away like leaves off a tree; and suddenly I would remember that I was not bothered about this or that. I had one severe attack about fourteen years ago—was reported to be dying—but with the help of a practitioner I was healed. Another very discordant condition was overcome about five years ago.
In my family severe scalds, from both boiling water and burning gasoline, were quickly overcome by Truth; a second treatment only was required to meet the replacement of new skin, fear of inflammation, and poison suggested by others. Daily work was resumed without interruption. Healings of concussion of the brain, convulsions, St. Vitus's dance, bad cuts on the head and face, from which no scars were left, contrast strikingly with similar experiences we had before we knew of Christian Science.
I am grateful for all the activities of the church which have helped me to grow in understanding; for class instruction; and for the change that Christian Science has wrought in my life by teaching me to think rightly.
