Since 1912, the year in which I had my first healing through Christian Science, I have turned to no other physician in time of sickness, accidents, or trouble of any kind, than the great and only Physician, God. As we have a family of four boys, there have been many problems to meet. Some of our healings have been almost instantaneous, others slower, but I have learned and proved that only as we conscientiously rely on the truth as taught in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, do we get the desired results.
When I went for my first treatment I was a very sad and discouraged mother, for I had been ailing for many years with a great weakness which several doctors had said could not be overcome unless I had an operation, as the trouble came from a misplaced organ. I never seemed to want to have an operation, and prayed that I should not need to have one. While in this state I was a great sufferer from headaches, the pain being at times so severe that I would be obliged to lie down for hours during the day, and many times would have to send for our kind family doctor to give me relief. Sometimes that condition would continue for two or three days at a time. I could walk but little, as I would become exhausted and have to rest every few blocks. In about three months after my first Christian Science treatment I was able to take care of my home and children and to do whatever it seemed necessary for me to do. The headaches became less frequent until they finally ceased to trouble me at all.
I was also a great sufferer from acute indigestion, and was never quite at rest, fearing an attack at any time. The last attack stands out as resulting in one of my most beautiful healings. It was a very severe attack, and when my son called for help the family was very much alarmed at my condition, but in less than ten minutes I was entirely free and able to telephone the practitioner myself and express my thanks and gratitude for the loving help that had been given me.
