Christian Science came into my experience when I was a young girl, and although it was not needed for physical healing for several years, it was to me a most beautiful religion. As years passed and the need of healing was presented, only Christian Science was used, and always with the best results.
At one time, in running through the house, I slipped on the kitchen floor, and in trying to catch myself laid my hand and arm on a very hot stove. I sank to the floor and sat there reversing the mortal picture of accident, declaring aloud the truth that "there is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 468) until all fear of pain and bad results had vanished from my thought, and I was able to look up and give thanks. Then I went about my work, refusing to look at the hand. No pain was felt at any time, although someone said, "It will be dreadful when it starts hurting." This suggestion was quickly denied, and that time never came. Later in the day a neighbor kindly wrapped the arm up to prevent rubbing. Two weeks later, while I was bathing in the ocean, the bandage came off and not a sign of scar was visible.
Tonsillitis was healed in about twenty-four hours. Many problems relative to raising a family of children have come to me, but all have worked out beautifully when Christian Science has been applied humbly and persistently.
