Five and a half years ago Christian Science first came into my life. I was in the depths of despair and without faith in God or man. About two years prior to this I had undergone an operation and had my left breast removed, because of a growth. Within two years of this operation my right breast was in a similar condition, and words cannot express the mental agony I experienced. Another operation was spoken of, and though I fought hard against it, I finally agreed to submit because it seemed my only chance to live so that I might rear my baby. I had always loved and honored God, but when this suffering came upon me, and no hope could be given, my faith was shattered.
"Man's extremity," however, proved to be "God's opportunity." My trip to Brisbane, to have the operation performed, was arranged; but it rained so heavily I was unable to travel. While waiting for the roads to dry up, I saw in one of the Brisbane dailies a notice of the Christian Science service and remembered having heard of this religion in relation to faith healing. I sat down and immediately wrote to the clerk of the church and asked him if he thought I could be healed by Christian Science. I shall never forget his reply, and the hope that came into my heart that I could be well again. Acting on his advice. I borrowed a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy from the library and got in touch with a Christian Science practitioner, who lovingly gave me absent treatment. I just simply devoured Science and Health, I was so hungry for the truth about God and His idea. My healing was almost instantaneous. There has not been any return of the trouble; my health is perfect.
There have been numerous demonstrations made, some instantaneous; some have taken a little time, but I thank God for these, as they have made me seek the truth further. One outstanding demonstration was in regard to my baby. The doctors had told me I should never give birth to another child without an operation, but I have since given birth to a beautiful daughter without any trouble by knowing the truth as Christian Science reveals it.
