A number of years before I knew of Christian Science my eyesight had been failing from what is known as a cataract. I submitted to an operation, and my eyes seemed better for a few months; then they grew worse than ever. I went to the same doctor again. He told me this time that it was failing eyesight, and that in time I should be entirely blind. It was then that I asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner.
The healing was slow, and at times I was very much discouraged. I was unable to read a word. The only thing that I could do was to remember some good thought the practitioner had told me until I saw her again. This went on for a year or more. Then one morning while visiting my daughter I saw a spool of thread on the table, and to my great surprise and joy I found that I could read the number and letters on that spool. I called my daughter, and we were so overjoyed we both cried.
Through this demonstration I learned that sight is spiritual and not material. I now sew, do my housework, read The Christian Science Monitor, and have read almost all of Mrs. Eddy's writings. I am grateful to be a member of The Mother Church and also of a branch church. I am most humbly grateful for Christian Science, and for many other healings which I have not mentioned here; to the practitioner who has helped me along the way; and to our beloved Leader.—Alpine, Utah.
