AMOS had a keen sense of justice, and rightly transfers this attribute to Jehovah, but he had not that wonderful intuition of the milder side of the divine nature which we find in Hosea. Amos thinks of Jehovah as the king of Israel and her judge; Hosea as her Husband and her Father.
