In the year 1925 our little boy was born under most harmonious conditions, but it was discovered that the baby's legs were twisted, the feet turned, and the ankle bones at the top of the feet instead of in their normal position. Christian Science treatment was given and the right leg was healed almost immediately, but not the left leg. In due course the baby commenced to walk. With the ankle bone in the position described above, it was impossible for him to walk on the flat of his foot, with the consequence that he walked on the side, which stunted the growth of the foot. During this period discouragement tried to enter consciousness, and I am so grateful for the encouragement received from practitioners, the literature, and lectures.
I attended one lecture in which the lecturer made the statement, "Man is perfect now," and although it was said in his usual tone, it was to me as though it had been shouted. As Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health (p. 559), "The inaudible voice of Truth is, to the human mind, 'as when a lion roareth.' "On my return home I found that the demonstration had been made, for the ankle bone had gone into its normal position. Even then, however, another difficulty presented itself in that he was unable to put down the heel of his foot, which made him walk on his toes; but I am pleased to say that too was healed, and I am most grateful that entire normality is now manifested. We received an unsolicited verification by the school doctor, and one of the school authorities spoke of her surprise that during the period of so-called imperfection, the child had not shown any signs of awkwardness, and could take part in games like other children. Measles, chicken pox, trouble with thyroid glands, have all been overcome by Christian Science treatment.
I am very grateful for Christian Science and its activities, particularly the Sunday school, where our boy has been in attendance for over four years. When any discordant condition arises he himself will ask for the "Truth book" (Science and Health) and the hymn book. For the privilege of sharing this wonderful truth and for its Discoverer and Founder, I am most grateful.—Doncaster, Yorkshire, England.
