About sixteen years ago I turned to Christian Science, broken down mentally and physically. Like the woman in the Bible I had gone to many physicians and was nothing bettered. I had doctored constantly for two years, taking various kinds of medicine every day. I was suffering from what the doctors termed weak lungs, muscular rheumatism, inward goiter, and pleurisy, and I coughed almost incessantly. My eyes were also very weak. An eye specialist told me I should have to wear glasses the rest of my life.
I had been studying Christian Science one week when I laid the glasses aside and have never had any occasion to use them since. The cough stopped, and one by one the false carnal beliefs faded away and I was completely healed.
A little over four years ago I was attacked by an even worse complaint. The symptoms were very alarming and I was filled with fear, but by the patient work of a loving practitioner I was able to see and prove the nothingness of it all. On page 277 of "Miscellaneous Writings" by Mary Baker Eddy we read: "No evidence before the material senses can close my eyes to the scientific proof that God, good, is supreme. Though clouds are round about Him, the divine justice and judgment are enthroned."
