MAN, THE IMAGE AND LIKENESS OF GOD

From the February 1933 issue of The Christian Science Journal

THE likeness that will never fade is that of man in the image and likeness of God. Whenever this true image is recognized, the unchangeable concept of man begins to be established in consciousness. The Scriptures show that the man of God's creating expresses perfection, the reason for his existence being to reflect the wondrous works of God.

The imperishable nature of all that is real is shown on page 591 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" in Mrs. Eddy's definition of "man." She writes: "Man. The compound idea of infinite Spirit; the spiritual image and likeness of God; the full representation of Mind." As the highest idea of God, man realizes the spiritual perfection of all creation.

The student of Christian Science has a great work before him, for he is learning to embrace in his thinking the true concept of the universe and man. In so far, then, as one's concept of man is material it must be exchanged for the truth about creation. Everything which would seem to mar the sense of perfection is but a false belief to be effaced from consciousness in order that the true image and likeness may appear.
