In 1917 I turned to Christian Science...

From the February 1933 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In 1917 I turned to Christian Science for aid, after I had been advised by doctors upon an examination for admission in the army, that I had better go to the West or I should pass on. At that time I had not the means to do as they advised and seemed to be fighting a hopeless battle with my responsibilities as a young professional man with a dependent family.

When I first asked for Christian Science help, the loving assurance of a practitioner that the only atmosphere is that of divine Love, and that I therefore had nothing to fear from any environment or locality, caused a surge of joyous comfort in my consciousness which I still vividly recall. I was healed, and frequently since that time I have been declared sound and well on occasions when examinations by medical authority were necessary for business purposes.

I have had many demonstrations which have brought supply and unfoldment in business. In the years since my first healing I have been released from the false beliefs that the use of tobacco is of any benefit or pleasure and that there is ever any occasion, justification, or necessity to indulge in social drinking.
