JOYOUS EXPECTANCY

From the February 1936 issue of The Christian Science Journal

And every morning seems to say
There's something happy on the way
And God sends love to you.

What joyous expectancy of good is ours when we can awaken each morning with the glorious assurance of "something happy on the way"! Now what has one to do to be joyously expectant of good, and thereby assured of righteousness, health, peace, longevity, and success? The task is not an arduous one. Rather is this expectancy of good the natural, normal state of consciousness which unfolds to the one studying the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

An example of this rightful expectancy was observed one summer at the seashore. A child of two and a half years was contentedly digging in the sand with a stick, when along came his father and the little fellow looked up most expectantly and a new gaily colored shovel was then given to him. He began to dig with it, giving no thought to the stick which he had previously been using. This little fellow looked to his human parent for something and there was no doubt in his thought about his having it. He expectantly looked for something, received it, and immediately began to utilize it.
