THE COMING OF THE COMFORTER, CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

From the February 1936 issue of The Christian Science Journal

THE continued growth of the Christian Science movement in all parts of the world, and the undeniable proofs of its healing power in the destruction of all manner of sin and disease, are rapidly dispelling the doubt, prejudice, and criticism which attended its earlier reception. At the General Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church, held in Washington a few years ago, a report from a joint commission of bishops and deputies, appointed to make a study of spiritual healing, was read. This report, the result of six years of study, declared in part that Christian healing had passed beyond the stage of experiment, and that its value could not be questioned. The following conclusions were drawn by the commission:

"1. That throughout the world, spiritual healing is no longer the hope of a few but the belief and the practice of a large and a rapidly increasing number of persons.

"2. That such healing is an experience of mankind that can no longer be questioned.
