MANY blessings have come to my loved ones and me since I became a student of Christian Science.
Over eight years ago our eldest girl, then five years old, appeared to have a slight cold. It did not alarm us, however, until one night we heard her cough as though choking. When we spoke to her there was no answer except a queer rasping sound, which brought my wife and me out of bed immediately. We found her, to mortal sense, just passing on. Her jaws were set and her eyes glazed. My wife, who had not been a student of Christian Science very long, was frantic and wanted a doctor. I took the little thing in my arms and declared over and over in a loud voice, "God is her Life." By the time the doctor arrived, she was nearly normal. My wife did not follow his orders, nor did she give the child any of the medicine he left. Instead, we left her in God's care. Needless to say, she was soon healed and is now a healthy girl, just finishing grade school, and is a faithful student of Christian Science.
About a year ago, when there was a mild form of epidemic in the neighborhood, our youngest girl, aged six, became quite ill. In the afternoon I went to help a neighbor, and in about three hours my wife sent for me to come immediately, as the child was very sick. This time she treated the girl as we are taught to do in Christian Science, and she responded to treatment. But later in the night she had another spasm. Her body became rigid and she had great difficulty in getting her breath. To all appearances she was passing on. I declared that God was her Life, and my wife read aloud from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Soon the little one was healed and was sleeping peacefully.
