With sincere gratitude to God and to Mrs. Eddy for Christian Science, and with the hope of helping another, this testimony is lovingly given.
I did not turn to Christian Science for physical healing, but because of certain discordant conditions which caused worry and mental anguish, and with a desire to find a satisfying religion. Since childhood I had been subject to severe attacks of asthma. With the passing of years these attacks grew more frequent and so severe that emergency treatment had to be given. All sorts of diets and schools of medicine were tried, but with only temporary relief. The repeated failures of these so-called cures led me to lose hope, which in turn caused me to be greatly discouraged.
At this time I began to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and after a short time freedom from worry, anxiety, and discouragement was realized. This was a gradual process in which great happiness was gained, and I knew I had found a religion which actually brought peace and comfort. The realization that I had not had any asthmatic attacks since I began my reading was a wonderful and startling experience— wonderful to be free from the physical suffering—to be able to breathe and sleep normally—independent of the remedies on which I had been so long dependent, and to know that this healing had come about through the reading of Science and Health.
