The healing power of Christian Science has been proved to me many times, and I wish to express my gratitude and acknowledge through these pages what it has done for me.
A few years ago I started attending the Christian Science church. Becoming interested in the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, I purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and took up the earnest study of this wonderful book. For about six months I would read every time I had a leisure moment. All during this time I felt anything but well, which seemed strange, as I had never been ill. When I learned more of Christian Science, I realized that this feeling was a chemicalization, for at the end of six months I was healed of the smoking habit, after being an inveterate smoker for more than thirty years. This healing took place simply through my reading of the textbook. I have never had a desire to smoke since. This was about six years ago.
About this time I had a growth on my face, similar to one which my father had had when he passed on. This caused me to be more or less afraid, so I decided to see a practitioner. I asked him if he could remove the growth. He said, "No, but God can." He then asked me if I would be obedient. I said I certainly would. After a very few treatments, fear was allayed, there was no sensation, and the growth did not increase in size. After several more treatments and constant earnest study on my part, the growth came off. There is no scar or anything to denote its ever having been there. This was over three years ago. Since then we have had many healings in our family, and for all of these I am extremely grateful.
