More than twenty-five years ago, and in a time of great need, Christian Science was brought to my attention by an associate in a business office. Though not a student at that time, this friend had been greatly impressed with the healing that had come to a friend of hers through the application of Christian Science. We visited this woman, and she told me of her healing and gave me a Christian Science Sentinel. Never shall I forget the light and hope that the reading of this first Sentinel brought into my consciousness. It was indeed the star of Bethlehem, pointing the way.
As I look back and consider the satisfaction and joy this first acquaintance with Christian Science brought to me, it seems only fitting that I should express recognition of and gratitude for the honor and honesty of spiritually-minded parents, whose influence made the acceptance of this revelation of Truth a natural step.
In the beginning of my study I was healed of chronic constipation, indigestion, and the frequent recurrence of colds. My father, when he was past seventy, was healed of the tobacco habit and constant use of glasses through reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Many are the blessings that have come to me and mine since that time through the study and application of this truth. In every trying experience I have realized that it is only a call for more consecration, humility, obedience, and love.
