Christian Science came to me about fifteen years ago when a search, through various philosophies, for God and a reason for an apparently meaningless existence, had proved futile. The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, had been presented to me some years before, but, to my material thought, had appeared illogical and contradictory. The passage from Isaiah, "I girded thee, though thou hast not known me," expresses the fact of God's guidance, even before we consciously find the right way or are ready to walk in it. Experiences led me to turn again to the textbook, and I then realized that it revealed a new world of ideas.
Healing has come to me by way of gradual growth, protection, and change of viewpoint, but it has been none the less definite and conclusive. I have been wonderfully protected when horseback riding, and from the effects of car accidents, experiencing complete immunity from fear and injury by the realization of the allness of God, and the consequent nothingness of so-called material cause and effect, as taught by our Leader. Supply has been manifested in almost exact proportion to fluctuating demands; difficult human contacts have been transformed into particularly happy ones through my striving to see the perfect man, and when a forward step in Christian Science has been taken, circumstances have adjusted themselves without human planning. Insomnia, fits of depression, frequent attacks of influenza, and neuritis in my arms and shoulders have all disappeared; and I here wish to acknowledge gratefully the ever-ready help of a practitioner, and the wonderful privilege of class instruction.
For the knowledge that Life, Truth, and Love are the realities of being, and that the understanding of these will continue to unfold in ever-increasing measure in the way mapped out by our Leader, I am indeed grateful.—London, England.
