I am grateful to know that Christian Science can be demonstrated with just a slight understanding, when properly applied, and that as we attain a better understanding of God, we can prove that all things are possible to man as God's image and likeness. Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." It certainly is logical, then, that anything the opposite of freedom, such as bondage to sin, sickness, limitation, must be recognized as error and no part of Truth.
With the hope of helping others, I should like to tell of an experience I had in overcoming the belief of limitation. With a desire to do more in a financial way to aid in hastening the dedication of our church building, there came the thought to take up work for progress in business, which I did. As usual, my first thought was to visit our Reading Room, for there it has been my experience always to find the solution of my problems.
I was associated with a large concern, and the erroneous belief which I desired to destroy, not only for myself but for all the employees of the company, was that one needs to wait for an associate to retire or leave in order for one to progress. This to me was not true progress, but limitation. After pondering some of the statements while studying, I reasoned in this way: "Progress is the law of God," Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health, p. 233), and since He is "no respecter of persons," His law must operate for employer as well as employee; and as the employer progresses, new positions must necessarily open up to be filled by those who give faithful service.
