About four years ago Christian Science came to me as "a very present help in trouble." I had been out of work most of the time for about three years, and was discouraged and sick at heart. I had many material difficulties to overcome, including lack and limitation. Our eldest daughter, twenty-two years of age, had been sent to a sanatorium because of pulmonary tuberculosis, and had passed on. About this time, our youngest child, a boy seven years old, was seriously ill with epilepsy. He began to have fits when he was three and a half years old, and had several in a year. As he grew older he had them more frequently, until in April, 1934, he was taken with an attack which continued for several days. We gave up all hope for his recovery. During this time, I called a chiropractor who I thought might help him. He worked on the case for a short time, but was unable to help him, and advised us to call a medical doctor immediately, which I did. The doctor also was unable to help him, and told me that when he got over these attacks his mind would be impaired, and that he might be an invalid for the rest of his life. I also consulted another doctor, who would not even consider taking his case, and advised me to take him to a child specialist, although he thought that it was already too late for a specialist to do him any good.
I then turned wholeheartedly to Christian Science for help, and wrote to a practitioner in a distant city. I received a reply from him stating that he had taken up work for the boy. From that time on he began to improve. He had one very slight attack the following week, but was not unconscious, and another similar attack the third week. That was the last; the healing was complete and permanent. This boy also had stomach and bowel trouble, weak heart and lungs, adenoids, and was hard to manage. He had lost a year of schoolwork. He is now eleven years old, and is as well mentally and physically as any boy of his age, has been on the honor roll in his school for the past three years, and has had perfect attendance at school. This is our most outstanding healing.
I, also, have had many healings during the past four years. I was healed of chronic stomach trouble, the tobacco habit, social drinking, a sprained ankle, neuritis, colds, and many other difficulties. I experienced protection from serious injury in an automobile accident, and I have been greatly helped in finding employment.
