MAN'S IMMORTALITY

From the April 1939 issue of The Christian Science Journal

MRS. EDDY tells us on page 370 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" that "to be immortal, we must forsake the mortal sense of things, turn from the lie of false belief to Truth, and gather the facts of being from the divine Mind." We are privileged to work from this standpoint in order to prove our coexistence with God and our consequent dominion over error.

Christian Science has brought to our consciousness the Christ-idea, which reveals to us the fact that God is our Father-Mother, that in our real being we are immortal ideas, and that we possess, by reflection, the qualities and attributes of God. It is this understanding which enables us to forsake the mortal sense of things, to give up the belief of mortal birth, the limitations of fear, age, envy, pride, and other beliefs connected with a material sense of existence. We know, through Christian Science, that mortal existence is a dream, and we rejoice that spiritual man has never been in the dream and is not touched by the lie of life in matter.

Man, God's image, is immortal and immune from all materiality. He is perfect, healthy, whole, complete. And this is true of each one of us. In Truth we are God's ideas and can prove our unity with all that is Godlike. Step by step, through obeying the teachings of Christian Science, we can prove that we have in reality no false sense that can be tempted to agree with anything that does not manifest the Christ-nature.
