In gratitude to God and to our Leader, and in order to hold out to others the assurance that there is help for them in Christian Science, I wish to tell of an outstanding experience in my life.
For several months I had suffered from what the doctor called inward goiter. I could not sleep, eat, or do my work, and I breathed with difficulty. The doctor said that the condition had affected my heart to the extent that the least overexertion or excitement might prove fatal. My vision was blurred, and I was ordered to bed for three weeks. At the end of this time the doctor told me that an operation could no longer be put off. It was Saturday night, and he insisted that on Monday morning I submit that on Monday morning I submit to an operation.
I thank God that I was then led to take my stand and turn wholly to Christian Science. I wrote to a practitioner, explaining the situation and asking for help. He got my letter on Sunday. On Monday morning I awoke with a shout that roused the family, and as they came to me I cried: "I am well! I am well! I can breathe freely." This was in September, 1936, and I have not had the slightest trace of the ailment since.
