"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy." This Scriptural passage encourages me to express, through the columns of our periodicals, my gratitude for the redemptive power of Truth as taught in Christian Science.
I have enjoyed the blessings of this beautiful and practical religion since childhood. My mother was suffering from grief over the loss of one of her children through an automobile accident. She was unwilling to accept the orthodox minister's explanation that this was the will of God, and turned from her former church with bitter resentment. Later she visited some friends who were Christian Scientists, and their explanation that God is Love and that He does not afflict His children, comforted her. She then took up the study of the Science of Christ, Truth, and herein found peace and healing. Thus I was privileged to enter the Christian Science Sunday School, and I shall always be grateful for the lessons I learned there.
When I went away to college I was helped and protected in many ways by what I knew of Christian Science. Because I had never known much about medical science, I knew very little about various diseases and their symptoms, but I found that I did not need to know them in order to be healed of any discord. At one time I lay in the college dormitory for two days, so extremely ill that I could scarcely move. I remember praying as best I knew, and was finally able to telephone a practitioner whose name I found in the Journal. Soon I was healed, without any of my colleagues knowing how ill I had been, and was thus protected from being sent to the college infirmary.
