The Christian Scientist remembers always that Mary Baker Eddy was the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science and the Leader of the Christian Science movement. Mrs. Eddy discovered the Science which brings to the world the understanding of Christian healing as taught by Christ Jesus. Then she founded the Christian Science organization through which to disseminate her teaching. This age has therefore the revelator, the revelation, and the church organization which safeguards and promotes the revelation. Our Leader, her writings, and her church are inseparable.
To the disciples of Christ Jesus the early Christian church was inseparable from his teaching—was the outgrowth and the bulwark of it. The activities of the first Christians established the churches. The letters of Paul, Peter, and John were addressed to the churches. The book of Revelation, which closes the Scriptures, repeats again and again, ''He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.'' The promises were multiplied to the churches. In beautiful imagery it is shown that he who hears will ''eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God;" he will receive a white stone with a new name written therein; he will have the morning star; he will, when he has overcome, be given to sit with Christ, even as Jesus overcame and is set down with the ''Father in his throne."
To the churches these messages were given. Within the churches the individual could find them. It is no different today. Christian Science speaks through the Bible and our Leader's writings in the church services.
